Hello! My name is John Winstead and I make professional oboe reeds at a discount. I have played for many orchestras including the Iceland Symphony orchestra, Denver center for performing arts, North Carolina Symphony, and Los Angeles Opera Orchestra, Colorado Springs Philharmonic and many more! I have played with John Williams (I performed with him in LA for the debut of the movie Warhorse and The adventures of Tintin) You can find my recordings with music minus one and other recordings on youtube so you can hear my reeds in action!
I just opened my Ebay oboe reed shop. I make my reeds to play easily yet have a very layered and warm/dark tone quality. I have played for some of the biggest conductors in the world including John Williams, Michael Tilson Thomas, Gustavo Dudamel. You need the reed to do some of the work for you! I attended the Colburn Conservatory and My teachers included Allan Vogel, Elaine Douvas and Richard Woodhams. I play on quite light and flexible yet extremely “layered” in tone quality with a warm huge tone with a nice opening. Shipping is free within the USA!!! Let me know when you order if you are starting out. I am happy to make reeds for all levels of playing. For beginners I include a little guide for starting out on the oboe and make the reed very responsive so it will last longer and be easy to play!
